I had the honor and privilege of sitting down with Joel and going back in time to discuss one of his books that he wrote over twenty years ago, Family Friendly Farming. In his typical conversational style, the book recounts story after story about his childhood, his father, and his kids while asking the question, "How do you keep the kids from leaving the farm?" The answers he lays out in the book are insightful. My aim in this interview was to find out whether his advice actually worked for him over the past twenty years.
